Downtown Billings Alliance launches new Loan-A-Bike program 

In conjunction with national Bike to Work Week,  Downtown Billings is rolling out its new Loan-A-Bike program on Monday, May 17^th.   

The Loan-A-Bike program will make a bicycle available for use free of charge, during business hours.  This program encourages people to think of bicycles as efficient, practical transportation, as well as recreation or exercise equipment by making available a bicycle, lock and helmet free of charge for mid-day downtown errands or simply a breath of fresh air. 

All you need to do is stop by the Downtown Billings offices at 2815 2^nd Ave. North with a photo I.D. , a credit or debit card, and a few calories to burn.  There is no charge for the use of the bike, but an imprint of the card will be taken and charges will be incurred if the equipment is not returned. 

This is just another step taken by Downtown Billings to celebrate the friendly, lively nature of downtown, and increase awareness of walking and cycling as efficient, effective forms of alternate transportation.   With escalating energy costs, walkability and connectivity are increasingly important issues, and Downtown Billings is committed to building an effective downtown infrastructure, well beyond bike to work week.  Look for secure bike parking, more bike racks and bicycle specific lanes and paths that work well with existing roadways and parking facilities. 

The Downtown Billings Alliance is coalition of three non-profit organizations (DBA, BID, & DBP) dedicated to improving the cleanliness and safety of downtown, and bringing fun and educational events to our vibrant community.
